Girl on Wire

She stands, motionless, as the cold breeze bites her cheeks.
She stands for hours.
Dark thunder clouds begin to prowl across the sky and the girl on wire knows that she must begin.

Girl on Wire is a simple yet brilliantly uplifting allegory of a young girl struggling to build her self-esteem and overcome the anxiety many kids feel growing up.

A tale of bravery and overcoming fear, Girl on Wire tells the story of a girl who walks a tightrope, afraid she will fall. With the support of those she loves, her toes grip the wire and she walks forwards, on her own, with a new confidence. Written by Lucy Estela, illustrated by Elise Hurst and read by Elise in her own studio, it is a poignantly beautiful story with illustrations that will inspire readers and immerse them in the story.

Continue the storytelling experience after watching Girl on Wire in our More videos' section, with an exploration of Elise's creative process, what it means to be an artist and the importance of awards like those from the Children's Book Council of Australia**. With music by Airae from Epidemic Sound.
