Florette

When Mae has to move house from the country to the city, she feels lonely and sad - until she discovers a beautiful place full of green in the centre of Paris. What she finds there sparks something special and beautiful that will make her feel much more at home.

Master picture-book creator, Anna Walker, has created a delicate, exquisite story about the magic of the natural world, resilience in the face of change, and the power of one child's imagination.

The watercolour illustrations used throughout are stunning and deceptively simple. The story is told through use of sparse, elegant words through which we follow Mae's transition from heartbreak and vulnerability, to resilience, creativity and hope. Containing a very powerful message that adapting to change takes time, and that we can all find a bit of green in our lives, Florette is a gloriously gentle story, read sweetly by ABCMe Mustangs FC'sEmmanuelle Mattana
