“Any way we can get children to engage with books is worth the effort and Story Box Library have come up with a remarkably unique platform to share the love of reading. As a child growing up watching Play School, there was always something mesmerising about watching, and listening, to the presenter read from a picture book. Read well and with the enthusiasm that good illustrated books deserve, the sharing of a book is a magical experience. Parents who read often to their children can vouch for that. Story Box Library understand this well and are committed to providing a quality resource that combines the love of reading children’s books with entertainment. I am so proud to be an Ambassador for Story Box Library. Reading books has never been so much fun.”
In the 20 years Gus has been involved in the children’s book industry, he has written and illustrated nearly 80 children’s stories. His illustrations are known for their loose, energetic line work, mixed media and nonsensical humour. And his writing? That’s been described as ‘melodic’, ‘soulful’ and ‘quirky’. Gus' most recent book, Herman & Rosie, received a prestigious Honour Award for the CBCA Picture Book of the Year (2013) and has been sold to publishers around the world.

“I am honoured to be an ambassador for the Story Box Library. As a child, with my mum being a librarian, I grew up surrounded by books. Ever since I can remember I have loved sharing stories. I treasured the time spent at the library - escaping into worlds of adventure and imagination. While the children of today love books, they live in a digital age of education and I am delighted that the Story Box Library celebrates stories, imagination and Australian literature online though film and mini documentaries. To have this resource readily available for children is an inspired idea - enhancing the experience of a book and encouraging reading. The dedicated team behind Story Box Library are passionate - not only about stories but how books are created. I encourage you to participate and share in the wonderful story of the Story Box Library too.”
