In the lead up to CBCA Book Week 2022, Story Box Library is releasing dedicated activities, linked to CBCA shortlisted stories in our digital collection, due for public release Monday 18 July. Designed for educator and library staff use, our downloadable packs encourage deeper text engagement, via engaging activity tasks that can be done in a classroom setting, library or remotely.

Find a range of book response tasks that provide lower, middle and upper primary age children with creative and engaging opportunities to explore, analyse and connect with the themes, characters, language and literary features with stories.

All CBCA Book Week 2022 activities are due for release Monday 18 July, during Term 3, 2022.

CBCA Book Week 2022 activities overview:

  • A range of downloadable and printable Activity Cards for students to select from, linked to our digital collection of the shortlisted titles

  • Printable Story Response Templates to record their activity responses in

  • Teacher notes with activity overview, instructions and links to Australian Curriculum

Suggested use:

  • Teachers and library staff are encouraged to print out versatile Activity Cards linked to shortlisted stories, along with the corresponding Story Response Templates.  Students can then select an Activity Card, and use the Story Response Template to record their responses in.

  • Google Slide versions of Story Response Templates are also available, to project onto an IWB or large screen for shared learning experiences

  • Teacher notes include tips for using  the Activity Cards as an independent literacy activity or as a whole-class activity.

  • Links to Australian Curriculum are listed below and included in teacher notes.
