Anna McGregor writes and illustrates award-winning picture books.
Her first picture book Colouroos was a finalist in the SCBWI Crystal Kite awards, her second book, Anemone is Not the Enemy, is currently shortlisted in the Children’s Book Council Australia awards, and her third book, A Pair of Pears and an Orange, will be released in June this year.
Anna is emerging in the industry as a creator of modern, quirky and conceptual stories with humour and heart. Anna also freelances as a book designer for various publishers.
Now based in Melbourne, Anna grew up in different corners of regional Australia – from the Goldfields to the Tropics. Her career in Graphic Design saw her move to London in her 20s where she caught the travel bug and travelled extensively.
Anna has a deep curiosity of all things and finds her ideas by turning the mundane on its head, merging two unrelated thoughts or exploring wordplay – but always with a story that connects to the human experience.
