Sue deGennaro

Author / Illustrator

Drawing as a child filled in all the spaces left behind by having no TV. In high school my love of drawing become obvious when it was revealed that art was the only class I never wagged.

I have done a degree in film, dropped out of Art School and even tried my hand at contemporary dance. For the next 10 years I trained as an aerialist/ performance artist. My career ventured to the circus world finishing in an all girl flying trapeze troupe… Exciting hey. However as time passed I found my fingers still searching for a pencil.

In 2009 I received a mentorship from the Australian Society of Authors. Since then I have illustrated 11 Picture Books and was the author and illustrator of ‘The Pros and Cons of Being a Frog’ which was awarded Shortlisted Book in the Childrens Book Council’s Book of the Year Awards- Early Childhood category 2013 and received a Notable Award in the Picture Book category.
