The Duck and the Darklings

Grandpapa's eyes shine when he remembers the beauty of the world, long-ago. Peterboy wants to find something wonderful to bring the light to Grandpapa's eyes and keep it there. What he finds is a duck, wounded and broken, and Grandpapa mends her from top to tail; quack, waddle and wing!

The Duck and the Darklings is a story for children and adults alike, about the coming of hope in dark days, the warmth of friendship and the splendour of a new dawn.

Inventive in both words and pictures, the story is exquisitely crafted and whimsically magical. Glenda Millard's language use is both unique and poetically uplifting, whilst Stephen Michael King's illustrations are a pure visual delight.

Deeply moving, The Duck and the Darklings is both heartfelt and beautiful in its celebration of love, hope and the joy of story. Singer/Songwriter Darren Hanlon's memorable reading will stay with you long after the story ends.
